GURUGRAM, India (November 17, 2022) – On November 11, 2022, Hohenstein celebrated the opening of a second testing laboratory in Gurugram, India. The new addition to Hohenstein’s expanding lab network will focus on physical, colorfastness and restricted substance testing of leather, footwear and personal protective equipment (PPE). The team also hosted a sustainability conference to discuss: How can economic success be linked with product responsibility and more sustainability?
The DAKKS accredited lab will complement Hohenstein’s established textile testing labs in Asia, helping global brands and retailers ensure world-class quality products from India. Leather and footwear services will include testing quality and performance characteristics to international standards (ISO, DIN, ASTM, BS, EN, SATRA, etc.).
The agenda of the November 10th sustainability conference was tailored to the industry in India. "This event is a great opportunity for the Indian textile industry to benefit from the global expertise of Hohenstein, OEKO-TEX® and industry experts from Landmark Group, Colourtex Industries, Shahi Exports, Resil Chemicals and German Environment Agency," said a delighted host Vinod Kumar, Managing Director of Hohenstein India and Sri Lanka. “We are here to help optimize their products and processes, and ultimately achieve their sustainability goals in global competition.”
Hohenstein CEO, Prof. Dr. Stefan Mecheels, welcomed the participants in his opening speech and referred to upheavals: "Times are changing rapidly in the global textile industry - sustainable products and processes are the order of the day."
Tours of the new leather & footwear laboratory were given by the Hohenstein India team, Prof. Dr. Mecheels, Dr. Christof Madinger, Hohenstein COO, and Dr. Helmut Krause, Hohenstein Technical Director Softlines and Shoes.
