As recycling scales, questions around authenticity, traceability and data credibility are impossible to ignore. How can brands verify that recycled claims are genuine -- and be ready for Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements coming in 2027? This session explores the technical realities of textile-to-textile recycling, including multi material products, fiber blends, chemical finishes, contamination during use (backpack pollution), identification and traceability, and how these challenges affect the ability to scale and verify recycled content. We’ll also examine the legal and compliance implications of recycled content claims, the risks of inconsistent or unverifiable data and how testing, traceability systems and reliable documentation support credible, defensible DPPs as regulatory expectations continue to rise.
