Product claims affect regulatory compliance, market access and technical credibility. Substantiation requires appropriate method selection, clearly defined objectives and acceptance criteria and sound interpretation of results. What determines whether laboratory evidence is sufficient to support a product claim? The answer depends on the type of claim being made and the data required to support it. Claims related to apparel fit consistency, biocompatibility for skin-contact materials and sustainability each rely on different measurement approaches and evaluation criteria. How results are generated, analyzed and applied ultimately defines whether a claim is technically supportable. Linking laboratory results to product claims strengthens decision-making and supports credible, defensible statements.
